HOPE Act becomes law!

Happy Holidays, everyone! I just finished my first semester at Michigan State last week, and I'm now back home for the holidays. I hope all of you had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the new year!

The HOPE (HIV Organ Policy Equity) Act has become law in Michigan! Governor Whitmer signed the law, which allows HIV-positive donors to donate organs to HIV-positive patients. Although the law was signed and become national law in 2013, it had not been enacted in Michigan until State Representative Felicia Brabec introduced it to the Michigan House of Representatives. This law gives hope to many Michiganders waiting to receive a lifesaving transplant.

Thanks for reading! Happy New Year!
