For this month’s Gift8lives’ meeting, we brought in our eighth grade English teacher, Ms. Costello! It was inspiring hearing her story and the struggles she endured while on the waiting list. She answered questions about her experience, so members learned about organ donation from a first-person perspective. You can see some pictures from the meeting below.
Every year Wolverines for Life, the University of Michigan organ donation awareness club, hosts the "Be a Hero at the Big House" event where you can sign up to be an organ donor, donate blood, or get screened to become a bone marrow donor. There is entertainment, activities, giveaways, special guests, and snacks throughout the time the event runs, so it's a great time.
We volunteered at the Gift of Life Michigan table, where we signed people up on the organ donor registry using our laptops, which was much faster than doing it by hand. It was awesome to be able to directly contribute to saved lives while enjoying the festivities in the Jack Roth Stadium Club, which has a great view of the Michigan stadium!
